Blossomtime Festival Parades

Updated: Feb 6

Blossomtime Youth Parade is on April 30, 2020 and Grand Floral Parade is on May 2, 2020

Blossomtime Festival Parades are a huge part of the festivals. There is a theme to the parades each year. The Grand Floral Parade is the centerpiece of the Blossomtime Festival. The parade covers two and a half miles from St Joseph, Michigan over the Bicentennial Bridge to Benton Harbor, Michigan. The parade has marching bands, drill teams, floats, antique cars, equestrian groups, unicycles, tractors, clowns and for over 50 years the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Motorcycle Drill Team. The event brings in about a quarter of a million spectators. The Youth Parade is for kids between the ages of toddlers to middle school age. They decorate non – motorized floats, bikes, wagons and some even their pets. There is a marching band, drill team, scout troops and 4 H Clubs. The Shoe Box Float Parade is for children 1st grade to 6th grade. They make a carriable float out of a shoe box and carry it in a walking parade in downtown St Joseph. Each year there is a theme and there are awards given for the decorated shoebox floats.
