There are over 2 million acres of privately owned forests enrolled in the Commercial Forest (CF) program for fishermen to access by foot. Most landowners do not allow motorized vehicles on their land. Commercial Forest (CF) Lands may be fenced or gated but are open to fisherman. Fisherman must have a fishing license. There are some restrictions:
No leaving anything unattended including bait
No damaging or injuring any vegetation and trees with nailing or cutting
The Michigan DNR has a great web page to answer questions on Commercial Forest (CF) Lands, mi.gov/commercialforest.
If you would like to own a home, small camp or land in the South West Region of Michigan to enjoy fishing please Contact Valerie.
