Covert is a township that covers 35 square miles located on the western side of Van Buren County, with its western border being the waters of Lake Michigan in the heart of Michigan Critical Dunes. On its northern side lies South Haven, Michigan around 10 minutes away, on the east Bangor, Michigan while Berrien County joins it on the south. Covert has a park in the dunes along Lake Michigan, wooded lots with great shade, a great family park. Some great swimming, hiking and camping along the shoreline. Covert Park has 62 sites on 50 acres of shaded woodland. With developed sites located in two separate camping loops, with water and 30 amp hookups and a dump station on site. They can accommodate most RV’s up to 32 feet in length. Their primitive walk-in sites are nestled in a wooded setting and all campsites are within a five minute walk to the beach.
Van Buren State Park offers approximately 400 acres of land located along the Lake Michigan shoreline in northern Van Buren County, just north up the road from the Covert Shoreline. The focal points of the park are its high dune formations and one mile of sandy beach. The Covert Museum tells the story of this area's wonderful post-civil war past and distinction of being one of the first integrated societies in the United States.
