Diamond Lake is a 1020 Acre All Sport Lake located in Cassopolis in central Cass County Michigan and is the largest lake in Cass County. This lake is east of Stone Lake and west of Donnell Lake. This lake has waters with a reported depth of 64 feet. In the center of Diamond Lake is a 43 acres island called Diamond Island. The island has roads and cottages for both permanent residences and Vacation Renters. There is a private barge that carries residents to the island throughout the year. Diamond Lake is very popular for power boating, water skiing and jet skiing and sailing. In the winter ice fishing is a favorite pastime. The Diamond Lake Association built a dam at the outlet of the lake that fixed water levels at 852 feet. The entire shoreline of the lake and Diamond Island are lined with cottages and homes, except the wetland area near the outlet. There is a DNR maintained access site on the south side of the lake (Lake Street) with toilets, a launch pier and parking spaces for 60 vehicles. There is also a marina on this lake. Fishermen report catches of Black Crappie, Bluegill, Grass Pickerel, Largemouth Bass, Northern Pike, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Sunfish and Walleye. In 1989 some lake residents reconstructed the shipwreck of the steamboat "South Bend," giving scuba divers a great place to dive. Diamond Lake is located 115 mile from Chicago. There are a lot of professionals from Chicago that like to buy second homes in this area. There are two golf courses that call this lake home, Diamond Lake Golf Club and Park Shore Country Club. This area is popular year round. There is a lot to do in the area.
