Douglas Michigan started out as a village and has grown into a city. The city covers 1.98 square miles and sits in Allegan County between Holland, Michigan and Grand Haven, Michigan. The City of Douglas has a little over 1 ½ miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan and over two miles of frontage on Lake Kalamazoo Harbor and the Kalamazoo River. The shoreline has sandy beaches and large dunes. Douglas is neighbors with Saugatuck,Michigan the city is a resort town and a favorite with vacationers. Just north of Douglas is a 1000 acre parked Saugatuck Dunes State Park. The park has over 13 miles of hiking trails and over two ½ miles of sandy beach to enjoy.
Douglas is a combination of established neighborhoods and new construction. Two neighborhoods that are sought after are Beachmont on Lakeshore Drive and Summer Grove on Wiley Road. Both are along Lake Michigan. The city has several well known art galleries and a lot of retail shops.
