Updated: Aug 8

There are a lot of different ways to enjoy fishing New Buffalo. If you are a landlubber there are several areas around that you can cast a line from land. Near the New Buffalo City Beach, along Channel, Whittaker Street Bridge and the marina are just a few of the fishing spots in New Buffalo. There are also areas along the Galien River that are great for fishing. New Buffalo has two large yacht club's; New Buffalo Yacht Club at 500 West Water Street and Lake Michigan Yacht Club at 300 Lake Drive. If boating is your thing New Buffalo City Transient Marina at 100 West Water Street has 30 transient slips; you must have reservations, docking by permit only. You can also launch boats at the New Buffalo boat launch at 201 Marquette Drive on the Galien River. This boat launch is located across the street from the New Buffalo City Beach. Check out New Buffalo Boat Launch for pass information and fees. There are a lot of private marinas in the New Buffalo area and some have condo associations. On a side note, remember that Michigan requires a valid fishing license if fishing on Michigan lakes and waterways; this includes Lake Michigan. Licenses can be purchased at bait shops, sporting goods stores and online at MDNR.
