Michiana is a small, residential community located on the border of Indiana within Harbor Country and Berrien County, Michigan. Michiana is part of New Buffalo Township and is the southernmost village in Harbor Country. It is situated near long sandy beaches with homes set among woodlands and dunes along Lake Michigan. Michiana is a self-sufficient, strictly residential community that provides no services to non-residents. The community’s sandy Lake Michigan beaches are open to the public but the Village provides no public parking. There are beautiful white pavilions along the beaches for residents to wait under for the bus service. The beaches are open from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm daily. If you decide to spend the day at the beach, remember that they have a No dogs rule.
The Village has no lots available for commercial or industrial usage and is committed to maintaining its status quo. Michiana is a quiet, safe, and secluded place for people to live an attractive life. The surrounding area has wineries, breweries, u-pick, restaurants, shops and all that New Buffalo has to offer. Most of the elite lakefront housing units are owned by Chicago residents and well-known Chicago celebrities who enjoy the leisurely life offered by the community.The real estate in this area from small $100,000 cottages to million dollar estates. Most of the homes are set in the woods or dunes and make great getaways and vacation homes.
