Saugatuck Michigan is a city that covers 1.4 square miles and is located between South Haven, Michigan and Holland, Michigan along the eastern side of Lake Michigan in Saugatuck Township within Allegan County. This beach community has a sister village called Douglas, Michigan; they have a long history between them. There is so much to do in Saugatuck. The Kalamazoo River Harbor has boating, fishing charters, kayaking and water tours. The area has several wonderful Golf Courses one being Shagbark Golf Club is on the west side of Silver Lake. The restaurants vary from casual to formal. Many of the restaurants have outdoor dining to enjoy. If hiking or spending time at the beach is your thing, Saugatuck Dunes State Park is just north of the city. The 1000 acre park has over 2 ½ miles of sandy beaches and over 13 miles of hiking trails. Saugatuck is home to Silver Lake, a 66 acre lake just East of Kalamazoo Lake.
Saugatuck Michigan has many galleries, unique Shops, artists’ studios, restaurants and attractions for year round fun. Water tours are big in this area. Two of the top ones are and Star of Saugatuck and Saugatuck Boat Cruises.
Saugatuck-Douglas Historical Society Museum is one of Michigan's best-known and most-visited small town museum, annually drawing nearly 10,000 visitors to its exhibits and more than 40,000 visitors to its outdoor garden and harbor-front walkway. There are a lot of outdoor family activities from dune rides to disc golf in this area. The area along Lake Michigan has some great waterfront homes. The Saugatuck/ Douglas area in western Michigan is a great place to visit and live.
