South Haven is a 3 ½ square mile city located on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan on the west side of Van Buren County. The city sits in both Allegan County and Van Buren County. Most of the city is in Van Buren County. South Haven has always been a port city. The port sits at the mouth of the Black River. If you like tall beautiful ships, South Haven is the place to be. The city is the home to the Michigan Maritime Museum and the South Haven lighthouse South Pier Light. South Haven has been a resort town for over 100 years. South Haven has been host to the South Haven HarborFest for over 25 years.
South Haven, boasts year round activities. In the spring, beautiful flowers are in bloom everywhere. The city has wonderful sandy beaches to walk and relax on. In the fall, there are several farms with pumpkin picking, hayrides, apple picking and farm stands to visit. In the winter there is skiing and snowboarding to enjoy. Ice festivals, outdoor ice skating, and snowmobiling are enjoyable winter fun. South Haven is just up the road from Van Buren State Park with lots of outdoor activities
