Thanks to the hard work of volunteers and the wonderful people that donated to the Support the Lighthouse Forever Fund the repairs and preservation of the St. Joseph North Pier Lighthouse are well under way. The lighthouse is cast iron and is painted red, white and black. Built in 1907 both the light at the end of the pier and the lighthouse itself has their original fresnel lenses. The lighthouse is located on the north pier at the mouth of the St Joseph River and Lake Michigan. There are several areas in St Joseph, Michigan that have great views of the Lighthouse.
Lions Park -to the south
Silver Beach County Park -to the south
Jean Klock Park – to the north
Tiscornia Park – close up pictures and access to pier
If you decide to walk on the pier please be mindful of the weather. Never walk on the pier during a storm or when Lake Michigan is rough. If you would like to donate to the Support the Lighthouse Forever Fund please check out their website. Every little bit helps to preserve the lighthouse for future generations.
