Union Pier, Michigan is located in southwest Michigan in Berrien County, Michigan along Lake Michigan about 4 miles north of New Buffalo. This Harbor Country beach community of Union Pier sits in both New Buffalo Township and Chikaming Township just 5 miles north of the Indiana border between Lake Michigan and the Galien River. Union Pier got its name from one of the shipping piers used to transport timber to Chicago after the great fire in the 1800's.

Warren Dunes State Park is a 1500-acre park located just seven miles north on Red Arrow Highway between Sawyer, Michigan and Bridgman, Michigan. The two-mile beach is a great way to spend the day.
