Preparing Your Home For Sale
Preparing your home for sale could take some time. The time to start is now. Follow the suggestions below to start on your road to selling your house.
Take a Good Look at Your Home
Your home may look good to you, but a buyer wants to see if it will work for him and his family. Take a drive around your neighborhood and come back to your home and really look at it. Does it need to be pressure washed or painted? Does the driveway need to be repaired? Does the landscaping need work? Go inside and take a good look. Open all the doors and make sure they do squeak or stick. Check to make sure that there are no odors in your home. If there is, take care of them now.
Tackle the Clutter Before You Start to Sell
Before listing your home on the market, get rid of all the clutter in every room ,closets, attic, storage, cabinets, drawers and shelves. Buyers do not like clutter. Remove any large furniture so that your rooms look spacious. If you have a lot of stuff that you just do not want or need to have a yard sale and use the money to spruce up the house. Anything that you keep should be packed and neatly placed in the attic or garage.
Clean, Clean, Clean
After removing the clutter you need to Clean. Clean every wall, door, ceiling, appliances, windows inside and out, fans, sinks, tubs and floors. The last thing you should do is have the carpets professionally cleaned. As you clean make a list of everything that needs to be repaired. ( switch plates, moldings, grout, draw knob etc)
Repair s need to be done before buyers start going through your home.
Let your home shine
Remember to leave lights on and drapes open in all the rooms when showing the house. Leave the property when agents are showing and remove kids and pets (whenever possible) during showings.
